Dark So Deadly by Stuart Macbride -
In a nutshell we have a down and out police officer chasing down a serial killer.. The concept of this story.. Not so much the killer but the way of killing/calling card was phenomenal! However, for me there was just a lot of other story lines and fluff that distracted from the mainline. There was so much included in the story and lead character that things got really busy and had a few too many curve balls.
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom - The second installment in the Jurassic World Series and 5th overall. I love that Dr. Malcom made a cameo in this film. He is for me, the best part of the franchise. This film continues in the fashion of humans living based on greed rather then common sense but in a twist it also highlights the deadly results humans over liberalizing issues and making even more blatantly poor choices. Therefor creating more chaos and problems. At first I liked the nod to Jurassic Park with including replicas of the classic scenes but after the first 6 is was almost... less "oh that's cool" and became.. "for fuck's sake already". Overall fun movie, kids enjoyed watching it in 3D, good classic family action movie.
The Hitcher - Last dial back to 1986. Basic break down Guy driving across Texas picks up a hitchhiker whom of course is a serial killer. He gets away but after finding a family murdered by the hitcher he decides to try to stop him. This turns into 1 hour and 37 min of cat and mouse carnage. Eighties sythnizer music, dessert highway car chases with copious amounts of crashed cop cars and you'll end up mildly satisfied with pockets full of death and a neatly wrapped up ending.
The Staircase - Available on Netflix. This is a older series that just recently had a few new episodes added and Netflix released it. Much the same as Making a Murderer in the that the evidence is displayed to the viewer as well as a lot of interviews with Michael Peterson and his family. Its up to you to decide how you feel about the proceedings and where the guilt or innocence falls. It can be tedious at times and there is a lot of courtroom time which can be slow for some. Unlike Making a Murderer the series has less of an agenda. They aren't trying to make you see the accused as innocent but as a neutral person surrounded with facts. Something I wish Making a Murderer would have done. Let it be said here and now if you are interested in hearing about the owl theory you will be disappointed.
Evil Genius - Another Netflix series. This one focuses on the Erie Pennsylvania collar bomb/bank robbery. Short and sweet 4 episodes. Everything is really clearly laid out, the shots are absolutely beautiful. I don't want to give any spoilers but if you aren't aware of this case it's a good one.
A few things I have been loving lately.
Coffee Booster collagen - This is a liquid form of collagen that you can add to your coffee or any beverage hot or cold. It's completely tasteless despite having a bit of a odour. I've only been using this for a week so nothing to report but it's a nice change from gel capsules. It's somewhat piggy backing on the bullet coffee diet fad but without the bells and whistles.
J.R. Watkins refreshing face & body cleansing wipes - These are quickly becoming my favourite wipes. Make up dissolves so quickly and leaves my skin filling really clean and fresh. I like that I can remove my make up in the even and get a bit of a peppy wake up from the fresh grapefruit scent. This is perfect for whinding down from a long day for a night of binge tv.
Schools out for the year, my girls wrapped up 2nd grade this week and I am thrilled to have a few weeks of solid family time.
For the end of year party I made these cute rice crispie watermelon slices that have become a summer snack staple. Along with them I served these awesome burger cupcakes!
Abdolutely no updates... schools out... summers here... time to turn life to slow and easy mode..
